Why it matters
Advertising fraud is deceptive to consumers and damages the reputations of legitimate advertisers. It also provides a revenue stream for pirate sites that get linked with legitimate advertisers via programmatic advertising algorithms. This enables pirates to capture click-through payments from legitimate advertisers.
