Sandvine’s 2019 Internet Phenomena Report says that Netflix constitutes 11.4% of all Internet traffic, and that 60% of Internet traffic overall is video. Sandvine also says that between 4% and 25% of Internet users consume at least one pirate stream per week, depending on the region of the world.

Why it matters
We look forward to a separate Sandvine report forthcoming before year’s end, which will take a closer look. Video piracy estimates vary widely from source to source, but suppliers of network monitoring technology are in a good position to provide objective data.
It is expected to update Sandvine’s 2017 Global Internet Phenomena: Spotlight on Television Piracy report, which was published in 2018.
