Dutch agency BREIN takes down Russian pirate

On October 18, a Dutch court issued orders for five hosting providers to cease supporting the Russian pirate site Moonwalk.cc. The initiative was spearheaded by the Dutch anti-piracy agency BREIN, in collaboration with ACE and the MPAA. Moonwalk reportedly fed about 80% of all Russian pirate Web sites and was estimated to have been hosting “more than 26,000 films and 10,000 series.”

What it means

It’s another case of attacking industrial pirates high up in the food chain, to starve pirate “restreamers” from the source. BREIN, by the way, translates to ‘brain’ or ‘mastermind.’
