FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) has been working with UK’s Government Agency Intelligence Network (GAIN) and the English Premier League football association to address infringement and video piracy.
“FACT investigators and UK law enforcement agencies attended 16 premises across the UK. They served Cease and Desist notices to individuals they suspected of supplying illegal sports streaming content.”

Why it matters
This is an example of interested parties working together to reduce video piracy. It also demonstrates that technology-based piracy detection and countermeasures are just opening moves against piracy, and must be followed through by legal enforcement. Individual cease and desist orders may seem small, but taken as a whole, it’s progress.
