Anti-piracy provider Friend MTS announced the appointment of Derek Chang to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). An industry executive with a career spanning three decades, Mr. Chang previously served as CEO of NBA China, and has held leadership positions with several recognized sports, media and entertainment providers. He also has served on the Board of Starz. He will be based in London.
Jonathan Friend, company founder and CEO until now, moves to the role of Chief Product Officer to focus on the company’s technology.

Why it matters
Mr. Chang has held senior management roles with video programmers, broadcasters, and distribution companies that utilize a variety of business models and play different roles across media industry value chain. This will help Friend MTS better understand athe dynamics between them and respond to threats against them.
