TAG updates research of European advertising fraud, announces record level of recertifications

The Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG) released its second annual analysis of advertising fraud in Europe.  Research conducted by The 614 Group for TAG found a 94% reduction in fraud when advertisers use advertising distribution channels that have been certified by TAG.

TAG is an advertising industry association created by the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As) , the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) whose areas of work are to eliminate fraudulent ad traffic, combat malware, fight internet piracy and promote transparency.

Coinciding with the release of the European research, TAG also announced that it has issued 164 recertifications for its Certified Against Fraud, Certified Against Piracy, Certified Against Malware, and Inventory Quality Guideline (IQG) Programs; across 125 advertising industry companies.

In January, TAG published new guidelines for advertising fraud (ad piracy).

Why it matters

TAG and its guidelines have contributed significantly to the reduction of fraud against advertisers, not only in Europe but worldwide.

In November 2019, TAG published an advertising fraud benchmark study, showing that TAG’s anti-fraud guidelines contributed to an 88% reduction of ad fraud among TAG members, worldwide.
