UK: FACT reports 17 pirate shutdowns in nationwide action

The UK’s Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) has played a key role in a coordinated law enforcement effort to shut down 17 infringing services across that country.

Fact is watching: “This is a warning to anyone engaged in selling subscriptions or devices that allow access to content without remunerating the legitimate provider,” said Kieron Sharp, FACT CEO. “Those that continue to provide illegal content risk a criminal conviction.“

Why it matters

These cases demonstrate the “multi-channel” nature of video piracy.  Not only were infringing sites taken down, but also, pre-loaded Illicit Streaming Devices (ISDs) and social pages were taken out of service
