Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a global initiative every October that raises awareness about online safety, to empower individuals and businesses to protect themselves from cybercrime.
The initiative supports efforts to protect against a wide range of online threats, including protections against malicious advertising used by cybercriminals to deliver malware or to direct users to fraudulent websites, online marketplace scams, data security, attractions on social media that seem too good to be true, and much more.
Informative content
Content is available to teach audiences about online safety and how to adopt cybersecurity best-practices. For 2025, Cybersecurity Awareness Month promoted a variety of initiatives, including:

Why it matters
Even amidst large-scale data breaches and cyberattacks, Cybersecurity Awareness Month reminds everyone that there are simple, effective ways to keep themselves safe online, protect their personal data, and ultimately help secure our world.
The National Cybersecurity Alliance and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) lead the campaign and create resources for organizations to talk to their employees and customers about staying safe online.
