Considered one of the most widely accessed piracy services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Movizland was a collection of piracy domains with visits from various countries in that region. Through its various domains, the site attracted around 12 million monthly visits, mainly from Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Turkey, and Palestine.

Movizland was established in 2012 by an Egyptian national operating out of Cairo, and offered a VOD library of TV series and movies in Arabic and original versions, consisting of approximately 34,000 titles affecting all ACE members.

Why it matters

“An individual … was profiting from the sale of stolen content,” said Jan van Voorn, Executive Vice President and Global Content Protection Chief of the Motion Picture Association and Head of ACE. “This type of illicit activity not only robs creators of their copyright, but it puts consumers at great risk for exposing personal information to criminals.”
